The former home of Lady of the House is expected to be put back to use this winter as a "wine-inspired, regional" restaurant by a Detroiter-turned-New York hospitality veteran.
David Richter says he's returning to the city to add "Alpino" to the city's growing restaurant scene. According to The Detroit News, he's spent the past two decades working with notable restaurateurs and was recently vice president of operations at City Winery in Manhattan.
He says Alpino’s concept is rooted in “heritage, tradition and simplicity.” The cuisine will be influenced by the Alpine Mountains of Europe and the beverage program will showcase cocktails, European-style beers and “a unique list of lesser-known, affordable wines from that part of the world.”

The design of the more than 3,000-square-foot space will be communal and aim to invoke European farmhouses and cabins.
